Pillared Miku

Pillared Miku

The initial print of this Hatsune Miku character was challenging as it only printed successfully 10% of the time; however, individual results may vary. To improve my next FDM design, I will strictly adhere to good practices. Interested in this specific pose? Let me know and I'll create a more printable version. The original model is by Kio and follows his licensing terms. My primary objective with this pose was experimenting with various support pillar techniques. Thin, 1-2 filament wide columns proved to be efficient for removal from convex surfaces while supporting the model. Non-convex areas required further tooling or sanding. To prevent pillars from pulling off the platform due to cooling plastic, boolean little cones should be added, particularly at edges.
