# Pill Punch *Pill pocket, pill pouch, pill buddy* > V1.0 I made this design because shop bought pill pockets are expensive, especially over time: [see Greenies Pill Pockets](https://www.greenies.com/collections/dog-pill-pockets). This design cuts and punches a pocket into a homemade treat mix, making giving drugs to your pet super easy. ### Pill types The design was made to fit 25mm long by 8-9mm diameter drugs or supplements such as fish oil capsules. The punch can be adjusted to make shorter treats or multiple smaller drugs can fit in the one larger treat. ### How it works 1. Use the outer punch and press into the mix until it is full. You can partially insert the extractor approximately 2mm into the top of the punch to provide a back stop whilst doing this. 2. With the punch pressed firmly on a surface such as the bottom of a food container and the extractor inserted appropriately 2mm into the top of the punch, push the plunger down through the extractor ensuring the extractor remains in the punch and is not allowed to back out. Some mix will extrude out of the teeth in the bottom of the punch as the pill cavity is formed. 3. The treat can now be extracted. In the air, push the extractor (with plunger inside) all the way through the punch, the treat will slide out of the punch. Next, gently twist and pull the plunger out and use your fingers to pull off the treat. 4. Insert the pill/s and pinch the opening closed. All done! To make smaller treats adjust the depth of the extractor in the punch for steps 1 and 2. ### Printer I printed it using PLA 0.16mm Resolution, no rafts or supports. An inbuilt 0.2mm clearance in diameter for concentric parts gives a snug but sliding fit on my Ender 3v2. ### Homemade mixture This mix is easy to make and has only 2 ingredients + water! It might take a bit of trial and error to get the right consistency. *Ingredients* - 1x cup oats - 1x table spoon of peanut butter - 2x tablespoons of water (varies) *Method* - Coarsely blend oats, not too fine but not to chunky - Add peanut butter to blender and mix on low speed with the oats - Add water to the blender and mix on low speed - A wetter consistency is better as the mix will dry out in the fridge ## Attribution Please feel free to remix or modify this design to make it better!
