Pill press for chemistry Class
prusaprinters
A press to press powder into pellets/pills. Needs a M10 screw with hex-head. All parts exept for the funnel (Trichter m10) can be printed without supports. I suggest using a thick wall size for strength.I reccomend slighty upscaling the models in the x and y direction, especially if your printer is struggling with tight tolerances. What worked great for me:Print “Zylinder m10 oben” at 102% scale in x and y direction.Print “Zylinder m10 unten” and “Trichter m10” at 105% scale in x and y direction. You might need to post process the smooth holes in “Griff” and “Zylinder m10 oben” (the lowest cm, not the threads) with a 10mm drill bit for best results. How to use:Add the m10 screw to the grip.Screw the grip into the cylinder for a few mm.Screw the funnel onto the cylinder.Add your powder (There is an experiment in the “Chemie, aber sicher!”-publication by ALP Dillingen, if you happen to be a bavarian chemistry teacher: 26_Ph_ASS_Isolation-Nachweis_Funktion_Hilfsstoffe)Unscrew the funnel and screw the endcap onto the cylinder.Press your powder until you feel the endcap bulging. Tightening the srew further might result in destroying your endcap.Unscrew the endcap and use the screw to press out your pellet/pill. Done!
