Pilaster console
myminifactory
This console, crafted with intricate acanthus leaves and other opulent Renaissance motifs, was salvaged from a strategic fort perched on the Adriatic coast. Commissioned by Giovanni della Rovere, the Lord of Senigallia and nephew of the powerful Pope Sixtus IV, the fort stood as a testament to his influence. Designed with an eye for dramatic effect, this console would have been expertly set into the wall at the precise juncture where the vault of the ceiling met the wall, serving more to create a stunning visual termination than provide any substantial architectural support.
