Pilaster console
myminifactory
This console, adorned with intricate acanthus leaves and other ornate Renaissance motifs, was carefully salvaged from a fortified structure perched on Italy's Adriatic coastline. The fort itself was commissioned by Giovanni della Rovere, a powerful nobleman who held sway over the strategic town of Senigallia and boasted a notable familial connection to Pope Sixtus IV. Originally intended as an architectural accent rather than a load-bearing element, the console would have been skillfully integrated into the wall at the precise juncture where the vaulted ceiling meets its vertical counterpart, serving as a visually striking termination point that subtly elevates the overall aesthetic of the space without providing any substantial structural support.
