Some may be aware that a game popularized in the HBO series, Westworld, actually originated from an authentic board game created by Charles Crandall, a toymaker who lived during the 19th century. The game in question is called Pigs in Clover, which he patented in 1889. However, just as Crandall was waiting for his patent, other competitors quickly introduced their own versions of the game that were almost identical to his. Eventually, Crandall's production line at Waverly Toy Works gained immense popularity and became a top-selling item. Nonetheless, similar games produced by his rivals managed to steal away some of his profits. Pigs in Clover even captured the attention of satirical cartoons and rumors suggested that President Harrison himself was an avid player.
