These birds, known as pigeons in English, golubovi in Russian, and simply golub in Ukrainian, are widely recognized for their homing abilities and have been domesticated by humans for thousands of years. They come in various colors and breeds, with the rock dove being their closest wild relative. Despite their urban presence, pigeons play a significant role in ecological systems and are used in pigeon racing as well as for meat production.
