On November 15, 2015, archaeologists discovered a pig rib molar at the Oak Hill plantation site (44PY440), specifically in Room 1, Test Unit 1, Layer B, Feature 2's north half. The artifact was unearthed during an excavation and was later scanned with precision using a NextEngine Desktop 3-D scanner. Dr. Elizabeth Moore meticulously identified this significant find. The Virginia Museum of Natural History graciously provided access to this valuable discovery. This molar is documented in detail by Elizabeth A. Moore's report, Faunal Remains from 44PY0440, The Oak Hill Site, submitted to Hurt & Proffitt and the Threatened Sites Committee, Virginia Department of Historic Resources, in 2017.
