Pieve di Santa Maria a Lamula is an outstanding example of Romanesque architecture in southern Tuscany, situated in the lowlands between Arcidosso and Montelaterone. The earliest written record dates back to 853, but the present-day structure appears to have been built after 1150, as indicated by the apses of the current church. At the beginning of the 9th century, the parish church of Santa Maria in Lamulas was a satellite of the Benedictine Abbey of San Salvatore at Monte Amiata. The name "Lamulas" is derived from medieval Latin for pond or spring. In 1264, Siena's troops invaded the area and set fire to the church, causing significant damage. Italo Moretti edits "Romanico nell'Amiata" in Firenze in 1990. Carlo Prezzolini compiles "Le chiese di Arcidosso e la Pieve di Lamula" in Arcidosso in 2017. Data collection includes 172 Faro scans, 1073 drone photos, and 4105 terrestrial images, all processed using Reality Capture technology.
