PIEDRA EXCAVACION CASA DEL ARBOL - VIANA

What I'm presenting today isn't something from Viana's historical past (at least, not yet :) ). The story of this stone is more about the beginning and motivation. It all started a few summers ago (about 6 years back), in an area under a fig tree and right across from the Ermita del Calvario. Kids (and some adults :) ) made that spot their playground by digging up and smoothing out buried stones. This marked the start of an "archaeological excavation project", where a large stone was unearthed, stood up straight, tested rock art methods with Venturi's method, and used colored pigments to stamp handprints onto the stone (some are still preserved). And this continued for a few summers until time took its course, kids grew older, discovered new games and hobbies...:). We still have some of their "excavation notebooks" and memories of an early childhood that had a deeper impact on us than we thought back then :).
