PID Ball on Beam Balancer

PID Ball on Beam Balancer

grabcad

This project is designed to be an educational tool to demonstrate the effects of a PID control loop. The positional data of the ball is captured by using a Sharp IR sensor, which is then fed into a tuned PID loop, computed on an Arduino Uno. The following is a part list for this project:- 1 x Arduino Uno- 1 x Sharp GP2Y0A21 Infrared Proximity Sensor- 1 x MG996R Standard Servo- 1 x 1/8x1 1.2x3 36in Aluminum Angle- 1 x DC Power Supply (or any 6V power source)- 3D-Printed PartsNotes: The performance of this PID loop can be drastically improved using a Kalman filter on the IR sensor input.
