Building a picture rail is an affordable project that can be accomplished with basic materials like 1x2 lumber. To create this rail, start by gathering the necessary supplies including 1x2 lumber, a saw, and a drill. Cut the lumber into long pieces to serve as the vertical supports for your picture rail. Next, cut additional 1x2 lumber into shorter lengths that will be used as the horizontal pieces connecting the vertical supports. Use these shorter pieces to create a sturdy frame for hanging pictures. For added durability, attach the horizontal pieces to the vertical supports using screws or nails. This will ensure a secure and stable structure that can support multiple picture frames. To complete your picture rail, attach a string or cord to the top of each vertical support using wire ties or cable clips. I used Nano-Chord for my project, which worked well due to its flexibility and durability. Hang your picture rail in a hallway, living room, or any other space where you want to display your favorite memories and artwork. This simple DIY project can add a touch of elegance and sophistication to any room while also providing a convenient way to hang pictures.
