Picture Mounting System

This magnetic picture hanging system makes it easy to hang things on walls that you don't want or can't screw into, mar, or use adhesives for. It works well for Drop Ceilings and Wallpapered Rooms, and is especially great for foam-core printed pictures or posters because you can fine-tune and rearrange them after hanging. The system has three parts: the Picture Hanger, the Magnet Jig, and the Drop Ceiling Clip. The Picture Hanger is a plate with holes and channels to run monofilament through to hold the picture in place. It also has space for double wrapping the bottom of heavier pictures. You can attach this plate to your picture using command strips or double-side tape, or add a small magnet (10mm x 1mm) that you glue into the top spot. The Magnet Jig is a small tool that helps you align the magnets on your pictures if you choose to use them. The Drop Ceiling Clip is a clip for use with standard US drop ceilings. It clips into the edge of the wall and has a hole for monofilament to connect the hangers above. You can also use it separately. So far, this system works very well for mounting foam core printed pictures from a drop ceiling. The monofilament is strong enough to hold six 4X6's or four 8X10s on a single line with perfect alignment. Since they are all on the same line, you can easily fine-tune the vertical alignment to make everything line up. If you plan to use magnets, be sure to align them all in the same direction when gluing them into place. This will allow you to rearrange your pictures later and have them stick to any holder. UPDATE - Oct 2017 I'm going to release a new version of this system in early November that is much improved over the current design. The main issues I've encountered after normal use are the lack of hard attachment to the pictures. Magnets are great, but it would be better with a more robust connection. If you're considering using this system, I suggest holding off for a few more weeks until the revision comes out. Print Settings Printer Brand: Prusa Printer: Prusa Mk2 Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Doesn't Matter Resolution: 0.2 Notes: I found it easier to print the drop ceiling clip on its side rather than flat, which makes it stronger since the print grain is better aligned with the stress points. The other two parts can be printed flat. How I Designed This I designed this system using Fusion360.
