Picnic Caddy

Picnic Caddy

thingiverse

I aimed to craft a handy way to tote condiments and utensils for picnics and barbecues without much fuss. This clever container is designed specifically to hold name brand squeeze bottles. Instructions: Cleverly cut from my little Full Spectrum Laser, I created it using 5 one-foot square pieces of Baltic Birch plywood, which is only 3mm thick. Next, just follow these steps: cut, glue, sand, finish, and voilà! You've got your tote. The divider sections come in pairs, so two dividers share slots in the center section exactly like they are laid out in the .dxf design. Assembly might require a bit of finesse; some pieces must be attached before others. I recommend building it dry to see how all the components fit together seamlessly, disassembling it carefully and then gluing everything in place. For added stability, I used regular wood glue. The two stick-shaped dividers have been sanded down ever so slightly to curve one side along their entire length and then glued snugly to either side of the handle's top, effectively widening its dimensions and rendering it even more pleasant to hold onto.
