I am merging two popular laser scanners to create something new and unique. I am combining the advanced software and electronics of FreeLSS with the robust hardware of CyClop. To give this new scanner a turntable that is more robust, I replace the original 40mm turntable with a sturdy Nema 17 stepper motor that rotates at a precise 0.9 degrees. For more information about this updated turntable, check out this comprehensive guide: http://diwo.bq.com/en/ciclop-released-2/. This new turntable setup has all the features you need to get started with precision laser scanning. You can download and utilize the advanced software and electronics that power my scanner by visiting http://www.freelss.org/. For added convenience, I am providing access to custom-designed laser clamps and holders from Bill Owens: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:678659/#files. This PiBox enclosure has been creatively designed using open-source components: https://grabcad.com/library/raspberry-pi-b-board-and-case-1. With this compact setup, you will be able to house the electronics of my scanner with ease. To produce a perfectly formed model, I recommend utilizing Simplify3D software, as it generates impressive results and works flawlessly for printing intricate designs. Once constructed, your CyClop should be assembled in a logical manner to avoid errors or difficulties. To help with this process, follow these straightforward assembly guidelines:. Following extensive testing with my scanner, I published an in-depth write-up outlining the process and procedure I used for my experiments and observations: . When performing experiments with precision laser scanners like mine, one of the challenges can be illuminating a sample or object effectively. To alleviate this concern, I now provide spotlights that you can use to improve lighting and get even better results. Here's how to download them for your CyClop scanner: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:799671. To take full advantage of my custom design's diffused lighting features and gain higher-quality scans with less distortion, try these cleverly crafted diffusers I made available here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:810178.
