Pickup cover v1.2
thingiverse
This is a pickup cover for a single coil precision pickup as found in early 50s precision / telecaster basses. The cover only covers the sides of the pickup in order to protect the wire windings. The top of the pickup remains exposed. This allows to anchor your thumb on the pickup without worrying about damaging your pickup. On one side the cover has a small notch in order to not interfere with the lead wires of the pickup. On the sides, two small holes are provided to allow the mounting screws to be mounted without interfering with the cover. As the cover design was initially based off a specific pickup, the design was updated with enough tolerances to accommodate other pickups as well. Some adjusting/sanding/trimming might be required in order to get the best fitment possible. Specifically, the top of the cover might not be flush to the top of your pickup, the base ears might need some trimming to fit your pickup's base plate and holes will have to be drilled for the mounting screws. Last but not least as the pickup cavity can vary from instrument to instrument, some trimming/sanding might be required in order to get the best clearance.
