Picatinny-mounted Brass Deflector
thingiverse
This is a highly effective deflector for modern sporting rifles such as AR, SCR, etc. The brass deflector is mounted on the top rail and was specifically designed to work with .223 Remington and .300 AAC Blackout calibers. It may also function properly with other calibers, but this has not been extensively tested. There are three different versions of the brass deflector, each with a unique mounting point. * Front Rail: This version allows you to run any optics or red dot sights because it doesn't take up any slots on the upper receiver. However, the long arm is more susceptible to accidental breakage. * Upper Receiver: Front - This option can be used if your handguard does not have railings and occupies some slots on the upper receiver. * Upper Receiver: Back - This version allows you to use it even if your handguard lacks railings; the lack of an arm makes it more difficult for accidental breakage. However, it takes up slots that are usually reserved for iron sights. The clamp part is the same for all three mounting options. You will also need two 6-32x1-1/2 hex bolts (for a 7/64" hex wrench) and two 6-32 wing nuts to install the brass deflector. Wing nuts are easier to operate than regular nuts. The brass deflector is an extremely useful accessory whether you want to collect your spent casings or there are people nearby your shooting bench that you want to show some courtesy to. Instead of a standard brass ejection pattern (3:45 horizontal), your spent casings will be directed downwards at a 2:45-3:00 angle. If you're shooting from the bench, all your spent casings will remain on the bench. You can see it in action by checking out this video: https://youtu.be/ZAJAsnDafUA. Since it is Picatinny-mounted, both installation and removal are extremely easy. Mount it on your first and third grooves (front rail or upper receiver - back) or last and third to last ones (upper receiver - front). Tighten the wing nuts firmly but don't apply too much force.
