PiCam Nightshot IR ender3 Y axis (enclosure and mount)
prusaprinters

This is complete solution to mount a Raspberry Pi PiCam IR camera to the Y axis of your ender 3. The mount does not need any tools or screwing to mount to the printer. You'll need a couple of M3 screws for camera enclosure.

IMPORTANT: Please make sure your camera fits by measuring the distance between the centre of the lense and the center of one of the IR beams. It should be 26.50mm. If it's not (most likely around 35mm), then you need another model - plenty of them on thingiverse.

Link to camera I bought on Amazon (works great BTW):

IR Camera

I bought a nightshot picam that I wanted to use on my ender3. However I could not possibly find a design that fits. So I remixed an excellent design by Chirstopher Burgess. Then I had to adapt a stand and I chose the one by Ryan Green. Worked from a mesh diagram and I am pretty new in 3D modelling so not the best but works perfectly and it's quite sturdy.

I’ve added holes on the back cover so that one could add heatsinks (or at least for ventilation purposes).

I will complete it by adding a clip to fit the cable at the bottom of the mount and a clip to strengthen the mount on the Y axis (it is not really a problem but the camera could shake a bit if the print head is moving really fast in a small area)

As Chirstopher Burgess released the 3D model (fusion 360), I am doing the same here. Enjoy.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Creality

Printer:

Ender 3

Rafts:

No

Supports:

No

Resolution:

0.2

Filament:
Overture PLA

Notes:

This is the first thing I am releasing, hope the first of many to come.
