Piaggio Scooter Top Box replacement 'clip' latch
myminifactory
The top box on my Piaggio Liberty 50cc scooter was vandalized, with its lock shattered into pieces. It wasn't worth investing in a new lock only to have it broken again, and without one the lid would flail about freely. I came up with a novel 'clip' lock design. Although it won't provide any real security, it prevents the lid from swinging open and looks neater than a broken lock! To install, I removed the old lock, leaving a hole that needs to be filled for the latch. Print all parts at 0.3mm thickness, with no supports or rafts required. Insert the threaded part of the latch fixing into the latch slot (starting with the short side) and secure it with a bolt. Adhere the 'catch' to the top box base, as shown in the image. Use the MakerBolt Set example for guidance - thank you! This solution is specifically tailored to the top box mentioned, but I'm confident it could be modified to fit other types of containers as well. Enjoy!
