Piaggio Scooter Top Box replacement 'clip' latch
pinshape
The lock on my Piaggio Liberty 50cc scooter's top compartment was smashed, rendering it useless. Given that replacing the lock wouldn't be worth the investment, as I would likely face another break-in attempt, and with the lid flapping open, I decided to create a new locking mechanism. I designed a simple clip lock that won't provide complete security but will prevent the lid from swinging open and looks more appealing than a damaged lock. To install it, I removed the broken lock, which left an opening for the latch's housing. The printed parts should be 0.3mm thick with no supports or rafts needed. First, insert the threaded portion of the latch fixing into the latch slot from the short end and secure it using a bolt. Next, attach the 'catch' to the top box base as shown in the photo.
