Modelo 3D of the baptismal font at the Mother Church of St. Miguel Arcanjo in Vila Franca do Campo. The baptismal font, with Tuscan influence, is situated to the left as one enters the church and is a unique work of art from the second half of the 16th century. Exterior masks mark the boundary between Condemnation - everything outside Baptism - versus Salvation through the sacramental water inside. Similar to gargoyles on the exterior of some Gothic churches, these figures embody the feelings of fear and horror associated with anything deemed outside Christian principles.
