Pi Zero Based Security Camera

Pi Zero Based Security Camera

This project was made using a cheap, but effective eBay Pi Camera clone, pictured below. I elected not to add the IR LED's into the face of the design because I read on the forums that they can overload the 3.3v rail on the CSI connector. I also have a non wireless capable Pi Zero, so this enclosure needed to be large enough to fit in the USB Micro to A adapter. The case was designed to be visible, and I used a generic ball and socket mount that I thieved off of here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:67911 I connected it to the side of the case using M5 nuts and bolts, I've left the holes for the mount off of the design because it will be specific to your needs, mine is mounted on the side. The top of the case is secured by self tapping screws for plastics, the hole should be drilled out to M2 to accommodate the screws, but to be honest, if you wanted to block out the holes, it's a super tight fit, and won't come off. The hole for the lens required a slight amount of sanding, but that may be due to the resolution of my printer not doing the design justice. After poking the lens through, I hot glued it in place, same with the cable coming out of the rear. Speaking of the cable, I'd recommend having a Pi that has a 5V supply soldered/pinned in, but, I just took my usb PSU apart, and poked the cable through, saving many headaches. On the software side of things, I used Motioneye on an old computer as the server, then cam2web for the MJPEG stream: https://github.com/cvsandbox/cam2web
