These seven Taoist spirits and free thinkers withdrew from court politics, devoting themselves entirely to their artistic, literary, and poetic activities within a peaceful natural setting. A Chinese ink box made of carved wood and bamboo, dating back to the Qing dynasty (1644-1912), specifically between the 18th and 19th centuries.
