PI Tank
thingiverse
The Pi Tank is the first fully open source, 3D printable robot built around a Raspberry Pi and a Kinect sensor. You can control this impressive device with your smartphone right from the palm of your hand. The goal behind creating this innovative project is to design a robot that anyone can build themselves. The Pi Tank has the potential to be an artificial pet, providing companionship and entertainment for those who want it. And with its modular design, users have the flexibility to write custom software for it on various platforms including mobile ones for maximum convenience in distribution. The first version of this ground-breaking device was brought into existence by Kristjan Järvan, Madis Kaasik, Ulf Anso and Ilya Kuzovkin during a 48-hour event in 08.02.2015 known as Garage48. All the design stl files are available to download at Thingiverse, while the Raspberry image is conveniently accessible through GitHub. To make this experience even better, an improved initial mobile app will be created which is expected to function just like the Parrot AR drone interface – with a camera on the background and buttons right at the top. Moreover, this extraordinary device has been equipped with an inbuilt laser.
