Pi Meditation Beads
thingiverse
36 digits of pi on a ring of “print-in-place” beads. The inner spheres print on top of tiny supports within the cavity of the neighbouring bead. These supports were designed for a 0.8 mm nozzle, 0.2 mm layer height. They may work with other set-ups, but it just hasn’t been tested! If you have success with a different set-up, please post below. Once printed, a light twist of each bead frees the ball within the cavity and the chain of beads can rotate and bend. Small spheres are difficult to print. The model shown was printed by raising the entire object 5mm off the print bed and supporting with 40% density “lines” in Cura. A version with flat-bottomed spheres is included if you don’t want to mess around with supports. A pair of spherical and flat-bottom beads are included to test and dial in your settings before committing to the full print.
