Pi Camera Drag Chain Connector for PI Case

Pi Camera Drag Chain Connector for PI Case

I am in the process of setting up Raspberry Pi 4B and a Pi camera on both of my printers (stock MK3S+, and a Bear upgraded 3S+ scratch build) to run Octoprint and monitor my printers remotely.  I found this Pi case that mounts directly to the MK3 frame, and which can be adapted to the Bear frame by adding a pair of drop-in T nuts.  It has a plain rectangular port for the ribbon cable used to connect the Pi camera:https://www.printables.com/model/217153-pi-case-v2Then I discovered this print in place drag chain designed specifically for the camera ribbon cable:https://3dmixers.com/m/25683-raspberry-pi-rapicam-camera-ribbon-cable-drag-chain-v2I needed a way to connect the two.  I briefly considered trimming the ears off the top link, and just gluing it in place, but a better solution was to design a link to connect the two, which snaps together, and maybe more importantly for maintenance, it can also be disassembled easily.I printed it with the tabs that lock it into the case pointing up.  I don't like using supports if I can help it but I found it to be helpful with this part.  I am including my sliced gcode file so that you can see where I painted on the support, but you should of course slice your own.  But hey, if you want to use the file I sliced for my modified, scratch built printer with non-Prusa extruder and modified firmware, I guess go ahead if you are feeling lucky. The next part of the project will be to design a link for the other end of the drag chain, to connect to the articulating arm assembly on the x-end.  Will post that also once it is designed and tested.
