Pi Cam Hood
thingiverse
A Simple Lens Hood for the Raspberry Pi Camera. Designed specifically to fit lenses with a barrel size of 7.3 millimeters, this lens hood is precision crafted in Fusion360. To ensure a secure fit, the lens interface is precisely set at 7.5 millimeters, accounting for any potential tolerance issues. If your printer produces slightly looser tolerances than mine, simply scale down the model by a negligible amount to achieve a snug fit. Initially, my time-lapse recordings appeared washed out due to an unexpected cause - the lights surrounding my workbench were inadvertently shining into the lens, resulting in compromised contrast and image quality. The use of a plastic lens likely exacerbated this issue. This lens hood prints quickly and effortlessly without support, requiring under 10 minutes to complete. I achieved satisfactory results using 0.3 millimeter layer heights on a 0.4 millimeter nozzle, although it's likely that smaller layer heights would yield even better outcomes.
