Photon S RC 203 filter duct
thingiverse
Inspired by the work of richardmike4 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3750679, I aim to minimize some resin odor when using my Anycubic Photon S. Since I don't have access to a similar filter used by richardmike4, I rely on what's available - an RC 203 filter. The printed air duct can be attached with double-sided tape or simply taped onto the bottom of the Photon S, aligning it with the fan exhaust hole. No screws are needed and no permanent modifications to the printer are required. This design is easy to print, requiring no supports; I just cut a 0.2mm bridge support where you place the filter to create the hole. I chose the RC 203 filter, commonly used for spraying paint, as others are designed specifically for dusts. For optimal printing results at the top of the model, lower the layer height in this area to minimize overhang. A sample photo demonstrates this using Prusa slicer with variable layer heights, resulting in a successful print. A step file is included for easy modification. To further enhance airflow, you can attach an extension air duct to the lower filter opening, possibly incorporating another fan to vent outside the house the filtered air coming from the bottom of the Photon S. The upper filter opening allows for clean air intake through the Photon S's lower back intake vent. The RC 203 filter used in this project is available at https://blueeagle-safety.com/Shop/respirators-rc203/. Update: After testing on December 29, 2019, I found that this design effectively reduces resin fumes in my living room area without issues. I used only two RC 203 filters with the filter duct as designed and updated the step file along with screenshots. It's recommended to seal the gap between the door and the Photon S box using masking tape around the edge to prevent fumes from escaping through these gaps. Resin fumes are produced during printing by the fan at the bottom, caused by UV light curing of the resin; after printing, no fumes are produced and fans are turned off.
