Photographic scales

Create scales for archaeological digs or crime scenes, including medieval ones. Mark them with a whiteboard marker to match your field notebook. Craft from 2mm white acrylic, but opt for acetal (Delrin) for heavy use. The laser-cutting process involves raster engraving grey and black areas for ink adherence. Use 18% photographic grey for the black section. This is an exposure scale, not a size scale, displaying a standard mid-range color representation. Note that vector engraving is used for lines, but raster might be easier for lettering. Fits on half an A4 sheet with CDR and PDF files available. Use artist's Indian ink to color the lettering and shading, wiping it on and off until desired effect is achieved. Keep the acrylic unscratched for best results.
