Researchers create small devices that quickly produce easily reproduced photographs of models inside sealed environments based on a method developed by Juan Diaz using silicone molds. To perfect this process, we needed to fix several photographic parameters for our large batch of samples. Additionally, we required the ability to rotate the model 360 degrees and move the arm along the Z-axis in real-time. For our first prototype, it was essential to create a design suitable for use with smartphones from the iPhone 4 or 4S range. The result is a straightforward, functional, and perfectly reproducible system that any researcher can develop at a FabLab.
