This item was crafted to maintain a secure near card position on a typical phoropter near rod. Splitting it into two pieces enables smooth rotation around the pivot point. The frame is specifically designed to fit the OSU College of Optometry Near Cards, which can be obtained from the OSU College of Optometry at https://optometry.osu.edu/sites/default/files/PDFs/IMC_Materials_List_20170928.pdf. This design allows for easy insertion of multiple cards with clear visibility from both sides as the card rotates. Removing a standard phoropter attachment clip provides greater stability overall.
