Phone Time-laps Holder
thingiverse
I enjoy creating time-lapses of all my prints, so I designed a hanger-frame-hook-device that holds my phone up to my Ultimaker 2+ printer in a position where my phone's camera can capture a clear view of the print bed and nozzle during a print. This allows me to produce fantastic time-lapses to showcase my prints to others (I use an app on my phone called Framelapse). The entire print measures 13.91cm tall and 5.30cm wide (5.474in x 2.087in). The hanger can hold any phone with a cross-sectional area of up to 7.65cm x 1.20cm (3.012in x 0.472in). It features overhangs of 1.0cm (0.394in) in length so the phone won't fall out during a print. I have a Samsung Galaxy S8 with a thin case, and it fits perfectly. I highly recommend printing with the back side down and support material for the overhangs (any infill will work). Also, I would not scale it up or down because it may not fit on the printer as well. It tends to swing a bit if the printer is bumped or shaking, so I recommend using a little scotch tape to secure it to the frame. Happy printing! *EDIT: I didn't realize that my previous version was too long and didn't hold the phone in an ideal position. I updated the length and this post on 10/20/2017. I also realized that the supports don't overhang enough to hold smaller phones like older iPhones, so I added a 2.0 version that is a full loop and will support anything smaller than say a Galaxy S8. The 2.0 version takes a bit longer and requires more support material.
