I needed a simple phone stand and couldn't find one to satisfy me so I just made my own real quick.

Works fairly well but is somewhat prone to falling over if you hit it too hard, although it is fine under normal use. I will make a version to fix this (mainly by being bigger), but I like how small, neat, and elegant this is and decided to upload as is in case anyone finds it useful and it still works.

Should work with pretty much any standard smartphone, at with my relatively thick case as well as without it. Non slip pads recommended.

Update: added a version 2 which is larger and generally better and more stable. Also updated the print settings to include some tricks I used to print it better.

This is intended to be printed sideways to make the main curves nice and smooth and minimize bridging, but it's also totally doable to print it the right way up.

Print Settings

Rafts:

Doesn't Matter

Supports:

No

Resolution:

.25mm

Filament:
Hatchbox PLA
Black

Notes:

Main consideration is just making sure you can do small bridges decently well and ~45 degree overhangs.
I use no infill and instead rely on internal bridging or additional top layers. I found that 3 perimeters was plenty for strength and for the overhangs but two may be fine. I also use modifier meshes to add a 50% rectilinear infill on the base and curved "cradle" section to make it more bottom heavy and thus stable. Also turned the parts by 45 degrees to speed up the print. Suggest angling at least the infill so that it is mostly long straight lines to that it is faster to print.

Category: Organization
