Phone Mount Lego Rig
thingiverse
Attach your mobile/cell phone to a typical phone mount via its four connectors, then link it to Lego Mindstorms components. This design allows you to securely mount your smartphone on a Lego robot for remote operation purposes. You can even create a telepresence robot with this setup. Last year, I downloaded a 3-brick Lego model from Thingiverse, but unfortunately, I forgot the creator's credit. The rig has been successfully printed using both an UP! printer with ABS and Shapeways laser sintered plastic. For optimal fit, I increased the height of the upper lugs by half a millimeter when printing on the UP! printer to ensure a firm connection with standard mobile phone holders. However, this results in slightly loose tolerances with the Lego holes. Conversely, Shapeways prints have better Lego hole tolerances, but the increased height of the lugs leads to a less snug fit with the phone mount, necessitating blue-tack for reliable securing.
