<p><strong>Update: </strong>This should also fit the S5, I've updated the title accordingly.</p><p>New rotating Phone Mount for the Van Moof S2/S3/S5 electric bikes.<br>Mounts to the handlebar using 3 cable-ties, magnets embedded in the handlebar-base will help keep the interchangable phone-cradles in either horizontal or portrait orientation.</p><h3>A lot has changed… Welcome to V2.0:</h3><p>This is a completely revamped version of my original phone mount for VanMoof ebikes.</p><p>While the original was nice and had a few good ideas, it also had it's drawbacks, like magnets that were to weak to hold the phone securely on bumpier roads, despite using a lot of them.</p><p>A new solution had to be found and so V2.0 was born, this version is improved in many aspects, here are just a few <strong>new features:</strong></p><ul><li>Uses less than half the magnets of the original</li><li><strong>more robust</strong> cradle for better protection of your phone</li><li>prints (mostly) without supports</li><li><strong>easier printing</strong>, no more pausing to insert magnets</li><li><strong>charge your phone</strong> inside of the cradle</li><li>supports <strong>more phones </strong>(see “<i>Available Cradles</i>” below)</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p>If you enjoyed this print, please give it a like and feel free to buy me a coffee using the paypal button on the right. ;-)</p><blockquote><p>Attention: This is a work in progress, while the available cradles are designed after dimension documents from Apple (for the iPhone cradles) I couldn't test the fit. Also while you may find “base” mentioned below. There is not yet a redesigned base, until this new base arrives, you may use the base of the initial phone mount, linked in the remix section.</p></blockquote><h3><strong>Instructions</strong></h3><h4><strong>Printing&nbsp;</strong></h4><h5>mount_base</h5><p>Simply print the base as shown in my print-files with the top facing down and you should be good to go.</p><h5>cradle</h5><p>I recommend printing the cradle parts without support, except for support-enforcers underneath the hooks of the cradle part.</p><p>Also, using a brim for <i>latch_lever_right</i> and <i>latch_lever_left </i>certainly helps to keep these small parts attached to your printbed.&nbsp;</p><h5>&nbsp;</h5><h4><strong>You'll need</strong></h4><ul><li>1x M3 locknut</li><li>1x Screw M3x10</li><li>4x Neodymium Disc Magnets 5-6mm for the base</li><li>4x Neodymium Disc magnets 5-6mm OR M3-M4 steel nuts for the cradle</li><li>3x cable ties 3mm wide</li><li>around 20mm of 1.75mm PETG filament</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><h4><strong>Assembly</strong></h4><h5>Base</h5><ul><li>insert the locknut in the bottom of the mountbase_vanmoof_s2_s3</li><li>insert the cableties into the channels in the bottom of the mountbase and fix it to the handlebar of your S2/S3</li></ul><h5>Cradle</h5><p>Assembly is the same for every <i>cradle</i>:</p><ul><li>Put the cradle on the base and insert the magnets or nuts into the 4 holes</li><li>Close the magnet assembly by putting the magnet-cover on, it should press-fit into its spot, just use a bit of glue if it doesn't.&nbsp;</li><li>To fix the cradle to the base, drive the M3 screw through the central hole into the M3 lock-nut.&nbsp;</li></ul><p>Now continue with the <i>cradle_top</i>:</p><ul><li>Break away the two support walls on the top corners of the <i>cradle_top</i> and insert the appropriate lever(latch_<i>lever_left</i>/latch_<i>lever_right</i>) into the slots.</li><li>Connect the levers with the <i>cradle_top</i> using short pieces of 1.75mm filament, I recommend PETG as it's a little flexible and wont stick to the PLA that easily.&nbsp;<ul><li>Just sharpen the ends a little and use a hammer to ehm.. “gently” guide them into place.</li></ul></li><li>Finally, cut of the ends still sticking out of the back and you're done.&nbsp;</li></ul><h4><strong>Use</strong></h4><ul><li>Insert your phone into the lower part and keep it in place by attaching the <i>cradle_top. </i>To keep your phone from falling out, close the levers and click them into place on the little notches of the bottom part.</li><li>The cradle should protect your phone from most damage even in the unlikely event of the screw failing.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><h3><strong>Designing your own phone cradle or base&nbsp;</strong></h3><p>Designing your own phone cradle to fit the mounting base, or a base for another bike is pretty easy.</p><p>All you need to do, to be compatible with the base and cradles is the following:</p><ul><li>place a M3 countersunk hole in the (gravitational)center of your cradle</li><li>design 4 pockets for neodymium magnets with approx. 6mm diameter spaced in a circular arrangement 20mm from the central hole.
