She asked if I could come up with something to cover the end of the plug to prevent this from happening. Although I'm not sure about the exact risks, putting the plug in your mouth doesn't seem like a good idea at all. I decided to design a cover that stays on the cable and can't be lost or removed. My solution is a sliding cover that fits over the charger cable and a small ball attached to the end of the cable near the phone plug. When you're done charging, simply slide the cover over the end, and the ball snaps into place, securing the plug inside. To release it, squeeze the sides of the cover and push the cable out. On February 9th, I received a suggestion from a member of the 3D Printing Useful Things Facebook group to add holes through the ball portion that attaches to the cord. This should help prevent any potential choking hazards when the ball is not in the cover.
