Phoenix

Phoenix

The Phoenix sculpture was crafted by Ossip Zadkine in 1944 for the Middelheim Open Air Sculpture Museum in Antwerp. This bronze masterpiece depicts a phoenix and is currently nestled among the lush greenery of the museum. Like many of Zadkine's works, this statue features an intricate texture that results from its bronze composition. The irregular surface appears smooth to the touch but showcases the natural beauty of the material used. With hues of gray, green, and black, the Phoenix remains uncolored and true to its original form. Today, it lies almost concealed among the foliage of the Middelheim Open Air Sculpture Museum. This remarkable piece is part of the "Scan The World" initiative, a non-profit project launched by MyMiniFactory that aims to create a comprehensive digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the globe. By scanning these masterpieces, Scan the World makes them accessible for free to the public worldwide. This community-driven effort is open source, inviting individuals with interesting items to contribute by emailing stw@myminifactory.com to learn how they can participate.
