This bridal hair accessory draws inspiration from two unique sources: Chinese paper art depicting the mythological phoenix and the iconic hat worn by Benvenuto Cellini's sculpture, Perseus. In Chinese culture, the phoenix stands as a powerful symbol of the queen, while ancient people believed that its passage would bring peace and good fortune to the empire. Furthermore, in literature, the phoenix embodies true love. Building upon these elements, I crafted this modern bridal accessory, one that expresses the bride's anticipation for a peaceful and loving future with her true love. For the overall design, I sought to incorporate strength and confidence. As such, inspiration was drawn from the feathered hat given by Athena to Perseus as protection from Medusa's sisters. My aim is for this stunning accessory to imbue the wearer with the same courage needed to navigate life's many adventures ahead.
