Phobos Moon Lamp

Overview

A moon lamp based on Phobos, one of the moons of Mars.

I wanted to see if I could create a moon lamp based off of a different moon. I found a 3d model of Phobos (link below) and turned it into a printable hollow shell with a base on the inside to hold a small light.

Printing/Assembly

The outer shell is designed to be solid when printed with at least 2 outer walls. Parts of the base will require infill. I printed it with 10% infill without issues.

I printed the model with supports. It was difficult to remove some of the support material form the inside, and I had some minor surface finish issues. So I would recommend keeping supports to a minimum.

The opening in the bottom is designed to fit a small lamp commonly used in holiday decorations. I have link to the specific one I used below. The opening ended up being a little small, so I had to bend the bracket on my light slightly to get everything to fit.

Links

I found the 3d model of Phobos here: https://3d-asteroids.space/moons/M1-Phobos

The lamp cord I used: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000VX6A5K/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_E6NT54N9AY6Y5T2JN262

I used an led bulb instead of the one that came with the cord.
