The Phlegraean Fields (Italian: Campi Flegrei; Neapolitan: Campe Flegree) lies to the west of Naples, Italy. Declared a regional park in 2003, this massive volcano showcases its vast territory. Twenty-four craters and volcanic structures dot the caldera area, with most submerged underwater. Water-based hydrothermal activity is observable at Lucrino, Agnano, and Pozzuoli town. Meanwhile, gaseous manifestations erupt from Solfatara crater, a location steeped in mythological lore as the Roman god of fire, Vulcan's, supposed home. The Vesuvius Observatory closely monitors this dynamic area.
