Philips Hue Cover for UK Light Switch (customisable)
thingiverse
This cover is designed to fit a UK light switch and hold a single Philips Hue dimmer remote control. The original light switch remains accessible when the Hue remote is removed. I initially considered using colosb's STL, but it needed some adjustments to fit my switch. As an OpenSCAD user, I decided to create a from-scratch version. The main benefit of this design is that you can customize it to suit your needs. Specifically, make sure the back of the cover touches the original faceplate. If the recess in the back of the cover is too deep, the original faceplate may not be securely fastened into its backbox, since they share the same screws. A 20mm x 3mm neodymium magnet secures the remote in place, embedded within the print. I'm using a Prusa3D i3 MK3S and employed the Color Print site to add a filament change at the top of the magnet. This paused the printer, allowing me to insert the magnet into position. You can use your slicer to determine the height of the first layer above the magnet hole if you're doing the same. Alternatively, you can modify the OpenSCAD file and adjust the embed_magnet value if you prefer to glue it into a recess in the back. If you're looking to mount a Philips Hue Dimmer Remote to another project, my carrier design may be useful, which I separated out from this one. Let me know if you encounter any issues. Otherwise, enjoy!
