Philips Dreamstation filter adapter - to use as E30
thingiverse
This innovative adapter can convert a Philips Dreamstation CPAP machine into a vital breathing aid for people suffering from COVID-19. In partnership with a local expert, we collaborated to design and build this adapter that could potentially eliminate the need to purchase a Philips Respironics E30, a recently created ventilator sold by the company to help COVID-19 patients. Although it shares similarities in design with Dreamstation machines, their capabilities differ slightly but are intended for temporary use only after the pandemic. The adapter is installed where the Dreamstation filter typically goes; a medical-grade air filter serves as the primary intake, allowing the machine to filter out all particles and viruses, including COVID-19. A secondary intake is positioned after the filter to supply pure oxygen directly to the patient. I do not own a Philips Dreamstation CPAP machine or any of its intellectual property rights. I am also aware that most 3D printed parts are porous and may not be watertight, particularly those produced using FDM technology, making them unsuitable for medical use. This is merely a prototype, intended as a last resort option for medical professionals in dire need of a ventilator or breathing aid during the COVID-19 pandemic.
