Phelps3D Transformers VHS CondorCon (AKA Not Laserbeak - Buzzsaw)

This is the first in a possible series of re-imagining of the classic G1 Transformers Cassettes. What If … Soundwave and Blaster turned into VHS tape players? I am attempting to make their tape mode as close to the original VHS tape as the original designs will permit. You will need two ½ inch wood screws and four ¾ inch wood screws for assembly. Assembly Instructions: 1. Place the wings and top body together with the neck groove and wing grooves facing up. 2. Place the wing connectors into the slots and then screw them onto the wings (the screws should line up with their starter holes in the wings). 3. Connect the neck and the head parts together by pushing them together (the neck part has a slant that should mimic the head’s back slant). This might take a bit of force to do. 4. Superglue the beak onto the head. 5. Place the head/neck combo into the middle groove on the top body with the beak tip facing up. 6. Set the bottom body on top of the top body and use the four ¾ inch screws to secure it in place. There are starter holes in the top body to help the alignment. (This is crucial later that they are aligned for the push pins where the legs attach.) Make sure that you make it as tight as possible, but still loose enough that the neck will slide in the slot. 7. Before moving onto attaching the legs you may want to do a bit of work. I chased the holes in the legs with a ½ inch drill bit (13 mm will work too). You want the inside surface to be as smooth as possible. I also ended up sanding on the squeeze pegs a bit in order to make sure they were smooth too. 8. To put the legs in make sure they are in the robot mode position and you are working on a hard surface because it will take some force to push them into place. You can also try to use a pair of needle nose pliers to squeeze the pegs a bit to assist when you are pushing the legs onto them. Just be careful not to squeeze so hard that you break the peg parts off. I will admit, this is the hardest part of the assembly. 9. Once you have the legs on it is a good idea to turn them back and forth the full way of their motion. (Being careful not to turn it so hard that you break off the top part that meets with the body in tape mode. It took me probably a dozen or more turns before the movement started to loosen (ie. The plastic needs to wear a bit during the motion before it becomes easy, expect resistance the first few times.) 10. With the parts all in tape mode proceed to attach the wing flaps (extensions). There are small indents in the wings where corresponding knobs on the flaps will connect. This step might be easier if you pull the wings out a bit and then try to attach the flaps. They should then be able to be rotated over the legs to complete the tape mode. Transformation sequence: 1. From tape mode pull the wings out. 2. Flip the flaps up. 3. Rotate the legs. 4. Pull the head out. 5. Attach guns. YouTube Video: https://youtu.be/r4XVXae2PHg
