Update I've made some replacements for the original X/Z axis blocks, and also a better endswitch mount for the Z axis. I also added some extra mounting holes on the printhead carriage They're all labeled v2. Why the name? Because of its heavy girth and material choice. Since there already exists a million DIY 3D printers, I suspect this will mostly be for posterity. (included the original 123D design file) I've made a 3D printer design which you could build yourself, if you have a smaller hobby CNC, like the Chinese 3040 - 320W models on eBay. Or rather, exactly like that one. From the first print it already exceeded what my MOD-T can perform, and it eliminates all of the layershifting as well. All while also printing at twice the speed. Build Area height is poorly optimized, trying to stay around 30cm max CNC cut length, my CNC is slightly modified and takes a bit of work to get the full travel. (lazy) It's XYZ, 185x300x156 'ish 11x LM12UU bearings 22mm MDF for the frame 12mm MDF for the bed 2 x 16mm threaded rod (I cut 1m pieces to length) 12mm rails all around 2mm pitch leadscrews Rail length 2 x 534mm, 2 x 365mm 2 x 326mm. All 12mm hardened chromed rails. 59Ncm Nema 17's for the X and Y-Axis 65Ncm Nema 17's for the Z-Axis. Huge shoutout to https://www.youtube.com/user/ThomasSanladerer his channel is the best resource for people looking to build their own printer, or just figure out how to optimize their own. Building it is one thing, making it print is an equal if not greater amount of work. Some quick improvements I can think of, would be to: Integrate the endstops into the Z-axis blocks Aluminium support under the bed. Integrate an auto level sensor Smaller pulleys for the X and Y axis, 35T is too big, but I already had the 35T model I'm using the Ramps v1.4, even though better choices exist, I went the cheapest route. The printer head is an eBay E3D v6 clone, the fan died almost instantly, but otherwise it's been good. Print Settings Printer: MOD-T Resolution: 0.4 Infill: Depends Notes: Everything was printed at 0.2 layer height with a 0.4mm nozzle Custom Section
