I've successfully landed several fish using this setup. I purchased the outrigger release system from a local fishing tackle shop for approximately $30AU, which was a worthwhile investment. To attach it, I used metal tracer and crimps, though cable ties or similar materials would also work effectively. My goal in designing this system was to distribute the load centrally under the drone, allowing it to potentially carry up to 800g. The outrigger or downrigger can be adjusted for tension, which is essential for a smooth operation. To use it, simply fly the drone above head height and attach the fishing rig according to the diagram. Next, release the bail or baitrunner and fly out at approximately 10m high to your desired location. Flick the bail over and fly forward, allowing tension on the line before releasing from the mechanism. I thoroughly tested this setup in my front yard a few times to ensure that the tension was set correctly.
