Phantom 3: In-flight Gimbal Support
thingiverse
When I bought my DJI Phantom 3 secondhand, the gimbal was already broken. This is a widespread issue with the Phantom 3, as the gimbal's design is flawed and much of its construction consists of thin plastic. I managed to hold everything together temporarily using sticky tape, but this requires frequent adjustments before each flight as it gradually comes loose. So I decided to create a more permanent solution. The in-flight gimbal support clips into place over the top of the gimbal bracket. Unlike many other gimbal supports on Thingiverse that prevent damage during transport, this bracket remains in place while flying to keep everything secure. Even if your gimbal isn't broken, it would provide additional strength in case of a crash. The part is designed with no gaps, so depending on your printer and quality setting, you may need to resize the model in your slicer. My final print was 101% before slicing, resulting in a nice tight fit. Checkout the video to see the gimbal support in action.
