I increased the height of the uprights by 10mm for added clearance when using props. Failure to build flat can result in propellers being hit by spanners between guards. A propeller guard was needed to provide full protection from blades while operating near objects, and one that could be printed with a FlashForge 3D printer. The design is a snap-on type, easy to install and remove. This fits most 3D-printing beds at least 190mm X 140mm. Spanners between guards are unnecessary; they can be assembled with super glue or plastic solvent. Each print makes one guard and one spanner. I prefer printing them in bright colors for clear identification of the drone's front.
