The European shag perches on a rocky outcropping, its distinctive crest of long feathers giving it an endearingly unkempt appearance. This cormorant measures approximately 121 centimeters in length and 50 centimeters in width, with a juvenile profile that hints at its still-growing size. On June 25, 2006, a specimen was discovered near Calella, in the coastal province of Barcelona, Spain, showcasing this bird's impressive presence along the Mediterranean shoreline.
