PGM to STL via Python

thingiverse

This Python 2.7 script reads ASCII PGM files and generates STL "surface" files, bypassing OpenSCAD's limitations for larger images. To use it, ensure Tkinter is installed, convert your photo to ASCII PGM format using software like IrfanView or ImageMagick, adjust the relief value (1-5) according to your needs, and expect large STL files as output. MeshLab reads these files well, but the creator has yet to print one of these STLs; they plan to share a photo of their first attempt.
