Peugeot 205 cabin light
thingiverse
After three decades, the plastic components of my Peugeot have finally given in to their brittle fate, shattering into pieces at an alarming rate. The latest casualty was the cabin light holder, its tabs snapping clean off, leaving it dangling precariously by a thread. To rectify this situation, I've acquired a replacement part that mirrors the original in every way, except for one crucial difference - it boasts a more secure fixing mechanism. Alas, procuring the authentic flexible tabs has proven to be a Herculean task, given their propensity to crack under the stress of rigid 3D printing materials. In a car cabin, temperatures can soar to dizzying heights, rendering any ordinary plastic utterly useless. That's why I've opted for a high-temperature resistant material that can withstand such extreme conditions. Both PETG and ABS have proven themselves to be excellent choices (PLA, on the other hand, is strictly verboten!). If you do decide to go with ABS, be sure to scale it up to 100.2% of its original size to account for shrinkage during printing. To ensure a seamless finish, print with supports and at high resolution. The upper section can be sanded down to a silky smooth finish and then painted to perfection.
